Blog Entry 17 of 28 Get a DWP Sub Water Meter Save $
California Utility Services 1-800-400-1727 The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works Bureau of Sanitation recently sent out information about your Sewer Service Charges to all 500,000 homeowners and 125,000 commercial customers. Once a year this is sent out along with reference to their website which further confuses the rate payers on exactly what are the SSC charges. Bottom line is this charge is a hidden tax levied by the city agency to maintain the infrastructure of our sewer system and treatment plants. Bureau of Sanitation has been collecting from DWP approx. $350 million dollars a year from this hidden tax. Where has the money gone all of these years? A portion has paid back the city general fund when there is a deficit every year. Most of the money goes for high salaried seasoned workers who need to be trained to get the job done and money spent on sub contractors outside the agency who over charge to do the job seasoned workers can’t do. Now a billion dollars is needed to fix our sewer system. The sewer service charge rates are going up for the next 5 years. Save your hard earned money by installing a Sub Water Meter. Don’t get overcharged by a plumber who does not know what he is doing but smells good. We get more Sub Water Meters than anyone else in the city. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce California Utility Services. We are a service business for LADWP account holders that does it all for you. Our primary objective

DWP-Water Meter-Electric Meters = Rate Increases
Contributed by: Leonard Horowitz   on 3/14/2008

The fate of Los Angeles DWP ratepayers will take place Monday, March 17, 2008 at the John Ferraro Council Chamber, Room 340, City Hall -2:00 P M.

The Energy and Environment Committee, special joint meeting with Budget and Finance Committee and special meeting of the City Council will take place.

Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa has asked the members of the City Council to approve the rate increases recommended by DWP. His complete letter along with DWP rate increase letters, public opinion letters, and Neighborhood Council letters can be read at: http://cityclerk.lacity.org/CFI/DisplayOnlineDocument.cfm?SRT=D1&cfnum=07-3248

After reading all of these letters it is my opinion the rate increases will take place. Our current elected officials still only want to turn us upside down and shake every dollar from our pockets. The over site committee supposed to be set up to monitor these huge increases telling the Mayor and City Council where the revenue is going will never end up doing it's job. Our elected officials never ending up at OZ are taking Los Angeles ratepayers down the yellow brick road. Everyone already knows the money is going back into the City General Fund to pay for other services and not going to pay for the rebuilding of the infrastructure of DWP.

I feel sorry for all those senior fixed income individuals who are desperate to find the money to keep their electric and water services on. We all must do our best in times like these to try and help others as we try to sustain our quality of life here in the City of Angels. Try and conserve water and electricity. Make sure when you vote at the next city wide election you choose a candidate who not only talks the talk but walks the walk. One who cares for the citizens of this city and has a track record that is a giver and not a taker. Someone who stays on top of the issues and does not run off to other states to help others get elected nationally while trying to make a name for himself to further his ambitions in Sacramento. Consider candidates who have morals that are proven honest.
