Blog Entry 16 of 28 Get a DWP Sub Water Meter Save $
California Utility Services 1-800-400-1727 The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works Bureau of Sanitation recently sent out information about your Sewer Service Charges to all 500,000 homeowners and 125,000 commercial customers. Once a year this is sent out along with reference to their website which further confuses the rate payers on exactly what are the SSC charges. Bottom line is this charge is a hidden tax levied by the city agency to maintain the infrastructure of our sewer system and treatment plants. Bureau of Sanitation has been collecting from DWP approx. $350 million dollars a year from this hidden tax. Where has the money gone all of these years? A portion has paid back the city general fund when there is a deficit every year. Most of the money goes for high salaried seasoned workers who need to be trained to get the job done and money spent on sub contractors outside the agency who over charge to do the job seasoned workers can’t do. Now a billion dollars is needed to fix our sewer system. The sewer service charge rates are going up for the next 5 years. Save your hard earned money by installing a Sub Water Meter. Don’t get overcharged by a plumber who does not know what he is doing but smells good. We get more Sub Water Meters than anyone else in the city. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce California Utility Services. We are a service business for LADWP account holders that does it all for you. Our primary objective

DWP wasting users money!

DWP has put out to bid a $50,000 contract for a contractor to run pregnancy and breast-feeding classes for its workers. Last years contract was $37,000 that allowed a specialist to work 16 hours per week, fielded telephone calls, and conducted 48 classes for expectant mothers.

This same service is probably already provided by their medical insurance program and is free from many hospitals. Why should we the DWP users pay for this? DWP is not in the humanitarian business. General Manager Nahai thinks that they are. Other commissioners do not agree. Commissioner Nick Patsaouras argued against it. "We're in the business of producing water and electricity, not in the social-service business."

It seems to me general Manager Nahai, another attorney, is not a businessman. The first thing he wants is water and electric rate increases and the next thing is teaching pregnancy and breast-feeding to his employees. There is something wrong with this picture. How many companies in the U.S. offer this program to their employees? Why not use the $50,000 on a few more new transformers to help DWP users when the next blackout happens. The lights are on right now but nobody is home.

For the past five years California Utility Services 1-800-400-1727 has been serving the community. We get you a LADWP Sub Water Meter, LADBS permit, and install by licensed and bonded plumber. Attention LADWP ratepayer who are smart enough to take advantage of this municipal coded program. We recommend you let us do it all for you. First we make sure you will benefit by ordering this sub water meter, second, we will make sure your water lines are configured correctly. We will give you a free water audit at your home. Then we will process your order. I heard about this on the John and Ken show. I guess I don't understand why taxpayers are supposed to feel sorry for workers who say they don't get adequate raises, but then we find out the benefits they're receiving and they're platinum plated compared to what we're getting with private employers. And if they're making good money and getting excellent benefits why can't I get somebody with a good attitude when I call the city? I've been waiting for almost two months to have my temporary power line disconnected by DWP so I can return my rented power pole to Andy Gump. Argh!
