After experiencing one of the most unbelievable trips I have ever taken, I want to cycle back and share with you some player feedback from the U.S. Olympic Men's Water Polo Team since they returned from the Olympic Games in Beijing, where they won a silver medal.
The team trained for several months in Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks and was coached by Westlake Village resident Dr.
Terry Schroeder.
I have also attached a few pictures of the favorite moments.
I asked all of the players a couple of questions. Below is a response from
Peter Varellas, one of the key contributors during all matches.
1) What were your Olympic experiences? (other than winning a Silver Medal)
For me, one of the coolest parts of the Olympic Games was living in the Village. I love any trip where I get to spend so much time with my own teammates, but being able to also meet literally thousands of other athletes that have made it to the Olympic level was amazing. Everyone has a story, everyone has a different path, and everyone has their own support team that helped to get them to the Games.
2) What are your future plans?
In September, I will be heading back to Italy to play a third season with my Italian club team in Savona. The next big event on the horizon is World Championships in July 2009 in Rome. I am eager to have an opportunity to improve on our disappointing showing at the last World Championships.

1. My Olympic experience was great. China was an interesting place to be, but I was just happy to be competing at that level. It has been a goal of mine for some time and coming away with a medal made it all so much better. It was a great time.
2. I am off to Greece on Sept. 17 to Vouliagmeni, a small town outside Athens. I will play there for the season then will be back with the team. I plan to keep going until at least 2012, if everything goes according to plan.
