Don't trade Kobe!
Contributed by: William Kus   on 11/2/2007

He's the best player we can have and he has been here his entire career since being traded for Vlade Divac when he was a17 year old kid.

Don't completely ruin the franchise again like you did when you sent Shaq away.

Or how you guys sent Jerry West to the looney bin.

----------

Kobe can react to his situation in a few ways.

He can get booed, realize how crappy LA fans are and demand to get traded.

Or Kobe can accept the booes of fickle fans in preseason and go on to win back them and the national audience back. A much harder job but much more satisfying.

(thats all I could think of for now)

Winning the fans, the owners, the coaches and your teammates will take a lot of work and a lot of creative thinking.

You have to approach it in ways you haven't before. Like creating the cross over dribble, but on a level of connecting with your teammates and fans.

I think if Kobe started showing more unselfishness then he would get more respect and the team would just play better. Let the shots come to him but pass the ball around and get everyone involed.

I mean everyone! Like Walton and Sasha do. They pass the ball around and see some unselfish basketball from everyone.

He should seriously talk to the owners and everyone instead of being silent. He needs to step up his PR game if he wants to survive. Talk to the media but say you want to stay in LA.

He is in the best possible market he could be in. Does Kobe really want to be in Chicago?

Maybe he does. He shouldn't. He should feel lucky to be here, where Jerry West wanted him to be, where he won three Championships, or was it four.

Lot's of memories.

-----

Starting over in Chicago?

It wouldn't be that bad for Kobe, but the Lakers and Buss will be in the middle of the pack forever. A repeat of the Showtime to Lakeshow regression.

When Kareem left the Lakers weren't the best anymore. When Magic left, the Lakers became the Lakeshow. Van Exel, Sedale, Peeler, Cambell, Ceballos (who if I remember was like 6th in scoring that year with his stellar offensive rebounding skills), Divac, and even Byron Scott stayed around for a while.

So many more also I forgot.

Magic came back and coached, and played, that was something special.

Anyways, until Shaq got here, the Lakers sucked. Shaq also needed Kobe, or Dwayne Wade or Penny Hardaway to take over. To share the load.

Anyways, keep Kobe and get a real center.
