Blog Entry 46 of 65 Editor's Blog
My name is Annie Hundley and I'm the editor here at valleynews.com. My blog will range from what's up with the site to life for a newbie in LA.

Farewell Stephanie
Contributed by: Annie Hundley / valleynews.com   on 3/22/2007

In case anyone was looking for my American Idol blog this week (anyone? anyone?) I actually missed the show this week. I know, I'm shocked too.

On Tuesday night I was chatting with a computer club in Granada Hills about valleynews.com and got home too late to watch Idol. My husband dutifully taped it, but it just didn't feel the same watching the next day when I knew I couldn't vote. So I took the week off.

It's funny sitting out on the Idol phenom because you hear people talking about it and you wonder what the big deal was. Apparently Sanjaya was more terrible than his usual terrible self. My dad told me there was a girl in the audience who was freaking out and crying like the ladies did when the Beatles landed on American soil. I am highly concerned with the state of the world if Sanjaya gets the same frenzied fans as the Beatles did in their day.

So the result last night was that Stephanie Edwards was sent home. It's too bad. Stephanie is really talented, but I didn't see her performance so I can't say whether she deserved the boot or not. The show is really turning into a joke, though, with Sanjaya sticking around week after week. If I were the producers, I'd be concocting an evil plot to get that kid sent home.

Until next week...

Annie, if ever you deserved a night off, this is the season for it! Worry not, Sanjaya will depart eventually...meanwhile, I was sorry to see Steph leave, but she left her "A" game home two weeks in a row and that's as bad as forgetting the words at this stage. I'm still holding with Melinda at the top and, after this week, "Kiki" and Jordin battling for 2nd. See you next week! http://denver.yourhub.com/Parker/Blogs/Arts-Entertainment/Music/Blog~281772.aspx

Lest it be misunderstood, dad doesn't watch the program in question. He thinks it is not so much based in reality as he knows it or at least wishes it to be. He merely saw the clip of the "performer" in question on a morning "news" program and dutifully reported it to his daughter, a soldier in America's Culture War. Best of luck young warrior. Dr. Hundley (your dad) By the way, the Kinks used to rule! They used to "really got me" then.
