Blog Entry 6 of 28 Get a DWP Sub Water Meter Save $
California Utility Services 1-800-400-1727 The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works Bureau of Sanitation recently sent out information about your Sewer Service Charges to all 500,000 homeowners and 125,000 commercial customers. Once a year this is sent out along with reference to their website which further confuses the rate payers on exactly what are the SSC charges. Bottom line is this charge is a hidden tax levied by the city agency to maintain the infrastructure of our sewer system and treatment plants. Bureau of Sanitation has been collecting from DWP approx. $350 million dollars a year from this hidden tax. Where has the money gone all of these years? A portion has paid back the city general fund when there is a deficit every year. Most of the money goes for high salaried seasoned workers who need to be trained to get the job done and money spent on sub contractors outside the agency who over charge to do the job seasoned workers can’t do. Now a billion dollars is needed to fix our sewer system. The sewer service charge rates are going up for the next 5 years. Save your hard earned money by installing a Sub Water Meter. Don’t get overcharged by a plumber who does not know what he is doing but smells good. We get more Sub Water Meters than anyone else in the city. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce California Utility Services. We are a service business for LADWP account holders that does it all for you. Our primary objective

DWP Wants More Money
Contributed by: Leonard Horowitz   on 6/6/2007

I have been letting internet surfers know about this all year. Now it's going to happen starting July 1 and voted and probably approved on October 2007. Today the Daily News headline say's,"DWP Wants More Money". Sure they want more, they want to turn all ratepayers upside down and shake every dollar from our pockets. DWP board President H. David Nahai wants all of us to support rate increases. If he and fellow board members were not asleep at the wheel and doing their fiduciary responsibility their would not be any rate increases needed. The money ratepayers have been paying all this time is going for high salaries because of bad union contracts, overtime, and high sub contractor prices. There is something wrong with this picture! The board jams increases down the Mayor's, city council and neighborhood councils throats. The politicians have to follow like lambs to the slaughter because the employee unions really run the show.

Don't get mad get even. It won't do us any good to flush our toilets at the same time. It will not help if wedo not pay our DWP bills on a given month. They would just let us go dark without heat or A/C because they have no compassion to the ratepayers of this great city.Complaining doesn't do any good.I suggest we start a ratepayer revolt. Power to the People or Power to the ratepayers. We must all pick up the phone, email, and attend public forums regarding these rate increases and lack of fiduciary responsibility of the utility agencies and I include Public Works- Bureau of Sanitation.Send the message to the Board of Directors of DWP, Bureau of Sanitation, Mayor's office, City Council, and Neighborhood Councils. Let them know how upset we are with these dysfunctional city agencies and ask them all to assign a Utility Czar (non political) to oversee how our hard earned money is spent. We must all react NOW.
