This blog is generally about what is piquing my interest at the moment which will probably be Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, or politics.

GS Disco Night
Contributed by: Joshua Godinez   on 4/25/2008

San Jose Street Elementary School was turned into the Girl Scouts Discotheque on April 16th. It was an event designed to have fun and let the various Mission Hills troops get to know each other. Many of them already do because their younger or older sisters are in another Mission Hills troop, but it still let 292, 1328, and 1722 mix and listen to the music of their parents' childhood.

With the spinning multi-colored light and strobe light (I couldn't find the spotlight for the disco ball, dangit), the girls had the relative anonymity of the dark to dance up a storm. Okay, there wasn't really a great deal of time to talk because the music was so loud, but the girls did enjoy some punch and cookies on the side of the room before boogying back onto the dance floor.

It was just one of those simple, but fun activities we have in Girl Scouts every once in a while to let the girls relax in the company of other girls. They didn't have to worry about dragging boys onto the dance floor or getting picked or even if they were being ogled. They just had other girls around, and an occassional mom or dad, who could be silly with the theme and bounce around to the music.

And hey, it gave me another excuse to post a blog entry. Works for me.
