Mark Kellam, editor

mark.kellam@dailynews.com I am originally from New Castle, Ind., and graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in journalism. I spent many years as an editor for a chain of newspapers in Dayton, Ohio, before moving to California in 2001. I was managing editor for Champion Newspapers in Chino for four years. I joined the Valley News when it kicked off last October and am happy now to be on the team that's launching valleynews.com. I live in West Hollywood and have two Maine Coon cats, Victoria and Juneau. I enjoy theater, playwriting and the beach. I'm also crazy about karaoke, but please don't hold that against me.

Alejandro Guzman, community reporter

alejandro.guzman@dailynews.com I am a San Fernando Valley native from Pacoima. I graduated from CSUN with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in Spanish. My hobbies include: watching Spanish league soccer, riding my dirtbike (Honda CRF450R), reading classic novels, Spanish guitar, hanging out with friends, watching CNN and generally staying physically active. My passion is community reporting, I strongly consider myself to be a man of the people.

Carol Rock, community reporter

carol.rock@dailynews.com In the last 14 years, I have worked for all three newspapers serving the Santa Clarita Valley; as former entertainment editor of The Signal, columnist for Our Times and a reporter for the Daily News, I've covered cops, schools, nonprofit activities and culture and love coming to work every day. I've been married to my sweetheart for 31 years, have three grown children who inspire me and two big dogs who entertain me. I work to preserve my area's heritage, volunteer in my community and love being active in theater, whether it's on stage in a musical or backstage running the show. I truly believe citizen journalism is the New Frontier and am proud to be part of the valleynews.com team!

Angie Valencia, community reporter
angie.valencia@dailynews.com I am a longtime San Fernando Valley resident currently living in the Northridge area with my husband Fernando and three dogs. I received my bachelor's degree in journalism from California State University, Northridge in 2003. I've been a reporter with the Los Angeles Daily News for the past three years, covering city government and schools, cops and other breaking news. I'm thrilled to have joined the valleynews.com staff and look forward to seeing where this citizen journalism adventure takes us.
