Hart Boys and Girls Baseball honors Terry Tull
Contributed by: Mike Lyons on 10/7/2008

William S. Hart Pony Boys and Girls Baseball and the Santa Clarita Oaks Conservancy will dedicate a Valley Oak Tree at the Valencia baseball complex at 11 a.m. Oct. 11, to the memory of Terry "Coach" Tull, who passed away this past May 15.

The ceremony will be held at the main entrance to the baseball complex.

Tull was a very active coach and helper/friend of Wm. S Hart Pony Baseball complex for many years in the 70s, 80s and early 90s. He helped construct and installed most of the field lighting during that period. He was instrumental in the construction of many of the grandstands and other projects.

Besides his volunteer work at the field, he was a long-time coach in the boys baseball program, where he coached his four surviving sons.

His dedication to the kids learning the game was his greatest concern. He always wanted the kids to learn the mechanics, the rules and the ethics of fair, honest baseball.

Tullwas a lifelong advocate of baseball. He was a letterman baseball and football player at Hueneme High School, graduating in 1964. He coached his four sons ( Jason, Matt, Kirk and Clint) and numerous other boys in both baseball and soccer. His sons went on to play baseball and soccer for Saugus High School.

In 1988, he coached the hometown Mustang baseball team to the Pony Baseball World Series Championship.

Tull is fondly remembered and honored by all the those kids and adults who he touched.

The Santa Clarita Oaks Conservancy donated the native Valley Oak. The commemorative plaque was provided by "Coach" Tull's friends.
