Bring it on - youth cheerleading in Valencia
Contributed by: J Simmons on 3/24/2007

Young Champions, a non-profit organization based in Orange County, offers youth cheerleading classes throughout Southern California. These classes are designed for students age 5-15.

One of their cheerleading locations is in Valencia on Friday evenings, in the multi-purpose room at Old Orchard Elementary, located at 25141 Avenida Rondel in Valencia.

Coach Janae is an experienced, energetic, and talented coach who has taught youth cheerleading for more than7 years. The cheerleaders attend class once a week and each session culminates with a competition in Long Beach.

Beginners learn basic moves, jumps, cheers, chants, stunts, and a dance. Cheerleaders who have been enrolled in the program for more than a year learn advanced jumps and stunts, in addition to their competition routines and cheers. This program emphasizes self-esteem, kinesthetic awareness, and sportsmanship.

The spring session runs for ten weeks, starting on Friday, April 13.
Class times are as follows: beginning students, ages 5-6, 5:30 -6:10 p.m.; beginning students, ages 7-9, 6:15-6:55 p.m.; beginning students, ages 10-15. 7:00 - 7:45 p.m.
