The Hart High School Varsity Cheerleaders won first place in The West Coast Cheerleading & Dance Championship held at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, California on March 3.
The Hart team dominated the Large Varsity Division and won the event Grand Championship based on total points earned in the overall competition. The 34 teams competing at the Kodak event were from Arizona, Idaho, New Mexico, Utah, and Northern and Southern California.
The Hart Cheerleaders have had a very successful competition season. They earned the title of California Federation (CIF) State Champions in December, 2006 at the Home Depot Center in Carson. This win qualified Hart to compete at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Competition in Orlando, Florida on February 9-11. In this event Hart was one of only three California teams to advance to the semifinals. On Febuary 24th, the team won first place at the Magic Mountain Cheerleading Competition in Valencia. Once again, Hart dominated in a field of 18 teams in the Large Varsity Division.
The girl's team work has contributed significantly to winning the Cheerleading competitions. Since the rules are slightly different in each competition, the Hart team has had to work hard to perfect all areas of their routine. They are judged in uniformity, difficulty of stunts, tumbling, choreography, music, and overall execution.
The Hart Varsity Cheerleaders will complete their competion season by defending their 2006 USA National Championship in Anaheim on March 24-25. CHEERS TO HART!
