I participate in a forum www.gather.com, where someone posted this message about two herding dogs in desperate need of an appropriate home. The dogs are out of Texas, the person who posted the message is in Arkansas, I believe, but perhaps someone can help in some way, or know someone who can? Who knows maybe somebody in California would be willing to rescue them, too! Anyway, thought it was worth a shot to see if we could start a national effort to get these guys a home! contact me at ccvargo@yahoo.com or ccvargo@comcast.net for information. Now for the story:
The Foster Family Writes:
I recently took in two Great Pyrenees working dogs. A male and a
female, 3 years old, spayed, neutered, and vaccinated.
Their owner, suffered health problems with her heart which required a specialty heart treatment center located in Pennslvania. Before agreeing to the treatment the owner found a placement home for her dogs, but two days before her move to Pennsylvania, the home changed their mind about taking the two dogs.
Obviously the owner was very distressed and at a loss of what to
do with these gentle giants. Then??
Someone referred her to me. Now, I have the dogs in our small
acreage with our sheep and goats. We really dont have the need for 2 pyrs
on 18 acres because there is nothing for them to protect the sheep against.
Both dogs are good with cats (except bobcats of course!) They are friendly - but
the male more-so than the female. The previous owner said they should
not be seperated because Peaches would stop eating and become depressed as she's very attached to OJ - who is her partner in herding and in life.
If anybody knows of someone looking for some Livestock Guardian Dogs
who will take both dogs and has a flock of sheep or herd of goats for
them to watch then please let me know.
Thanks!!
