Martins celebrate 65 happily married years

Jerry and Evelyn Martin celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 6, 2007.

A party for family and close friends was held at Le Chene Restaurant in Saugus. There was a renewal-of-vows ceremony performed by the Rev. James Powell of the Palmdale United Methodist Church.

Evelyn is a retired meat wrapper and Jerry is retired from the Los Angeles City Fire Department. After retiring, they moved to Bishop, Calif. They enjoyed fishing and boating and lived there for 10 years.

They moved back to Southern California and have resided in Friendly Valley in Newhall for 30 years.

They love to play golf.

The Martins have one daughter, Kathleen Stanke, married to Howard. They have three grandchildren, Beverly Johnson, Brenda Breiner (deceased) and David Stanke. There are seven great-grandchildren, Robert and David Breiner, James and Eric Johnson, and Zac,Ben and Brooke Stanke.

The Martins attribute their many years together to being faithful to one another and having the love and support of their wonderful family.
