Carolyn and Eddie Dishman
Eddie Dishman went into the coast guard in early 1942 and got out in 1946. When he returned home, he got a call from one of the girls who used to frequent the dance clubs he went to in the 30s and 40s, before he left home. She had mentioned that she and her girlfriend had a date with some college guys, but that didn't stop Eddie from asking her out anyway. Although she didn't break her date, Eddie called the girl on another day and asked her on a date again.
Turns out that the girl, Carolyn, only lived a few blocks from Eddie and he was blown away by her at first sight with her dark brown eyes, dark hair, slim figure and legs. He remembered the times aboard a ship in a far away country, thinking about the woman that was out there for him. When he laid eyes on Carolyn, he was convinced she was that woman. They dated from March 1946 to Oct. 1946 before marrying on Oct. 27, 1946.
After marrying, Eddie went into a laundry business that went bankrupt, then worked for an independent grocery store in Hollywood. He grew tired of working for the public and went to work for Lockheed Aircraft for ten years. Eventually, Eddie found something he enjoyed when he started working for the City of Los Angeles. He retired after 20 years.
Carolyne worked for the telephone company as an operator for five years. Both from Kansas, it turns out Eddie used to take Carolyn and her girls home from the dances, but they never really spoke until that day he came by to visit. And from then he knew she would be his only love forever.
They have twin boys:
Rod
and
Ron
, and twodaughters
Sue
and
Lorie
. And in Eddie's words, "We are loaded with grandkids and great grandkids."
