Kids scream for ice cream!
Contributed by: Kids Letters on 7/7/2008

TODAY'S TOPIC: July is national ice cream month. We asked what's your favorite ice cream.

My favorite ice cream flavor is Rocky Road. I love Rocky Road because it has hard and sweet marshmallows. I like my ice cream on a cone. I only like it on hot, hot, hot days. Rocky Road is the best ice cream ever!
Virginia Espinoza, 9

My favorite ice cream is colorful and really flavorful. It's shiny and sometimes it's gooey. My yummy ice cream is really smooth and it's fruity. You can really smell the flavors of the ice cream. The flavor is rainbow!

My favorite kind of ice cream is coffee because it tastes really good. Sometimes my mom doesn't buy me coffee because then, in the night, I won't sleep. The other kind I like is rainbow because my mouth gets colorful and my tongue, too. They are so delicious.

My favorite is vanilla. I like it cool, cold and in a cup. I like it because it's sweet, smooth and because it's so delicious. I also like it with Hershey syrup but I don't like it with whipped cream, nuts or the red thing. My favorite on the ice cream is a cherry.

My favorite ice cream flavor is Jamoca. I love it because it is so delicious and tasty. I like it on a sugar cone. The color is light brown. It's very frosty. It is so sweet and that's why I love Jamoca.

COMING UP: If you could have the perfect summer day, what would it be like? Would you sleep in and stay home or go somewhere special? Would you get together with a friend and play games? Would you read a book, do a puzzle, play video games, go swimming or color in a coloring book? Would you spend the day with your parents and have a special lunch or dinner? Describe and illustrate your best summer day.

Parents and teachers should make sure that the student's name, address, age and school are CLEARLY PRINTED on the letters and the backs of drawings.

Pictures should be drawn using black or dark blue ink on white, unlined paper. Drawings must be no larger than a standard, 8 1/2-by-11 inch sheet of paper.

The deadline is July 15 and letters will be posted July 22.

Hey, moms and dads! The kids are out of school for the summer, but that doesn't mean their brains have to go on vacation, too. Encourage your children to keep up their reading and writing by keeping up with our weekly questions throughout the summer. We like hearing their thoughts - serious, insightful or amusing. We have some thought-provoking topics in store, so keep those letters coming!
