TODAY'S TOPIC: What does the saying, "March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb?" mean?
If it comes in like a lion, it comes in ferocious and it's cold, nothing really grows and people are sad. It goes out like a lamb because it's beautiful. People are happy, more food can be grown and it's warmer.

I think it means that March will come to an end because April will soon come in. Before the month ends, March doesn't want to leave so it goes slow, like a lamb. March won't be here until next year so we want it to be slow like a lamb and not as strong, like a lion.

I think the saying, if March comes in like a lion, it goes out like a lamb, means that March starts cold and rainy and ends sunny and warm. I think that because a lion is a mean animal and a lamb is nice.

Tarzana
I think it means that in March it's windy because when the lion roars, it pushes the wind harder. I think that they said that it goes out like a lamb because at the end of March the wind gets softer and the lamb's voice is soft.
Ashley Pacias, 9
Fernangeles Elementary
Sun Valley
When you say March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb you're really saying March, in the beginning, is rainy because a lion is mad. But when you're saying it goes out like a sheep, you mean it goes out like great spring weather.
Gershom Zeller, 8
Wilbur Elementary
Tarzana
I think March comes fast like a lion because it's almost the middle of the year. The lion's roar is loud and tough and that is why it comes in the year fast. A lamb is soft and gentle, so at the end of March, people are getting lazy.
Jason Garcia, 9
Brainard Avenue Elementary
Lake View Terrace
I think the saying means that when the lion comes in, the first days of March have storms and rain and that equals the lion's roars and meanness. The last days of March, everything's all pretty and blooms beautifully and there are no storms and that equals the lamb's calmness. When the lion comes in, it all happens fast (March's first days go quickly). When it exits, it exits like a lamb (March's last days go calm and smooth).

I think it means when March starts, it rains and there is thunder. Thunder roars like an angry lion. Then March ends, it is like a lamb, peacefully, like lying in the grass.
Rebecca Andasol, 10
Lemay Elementary
Reseda
I think that March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb because lions like to stay in caves and don't want to be in the sun and out like a lamb because lambs like to be out in the sun.
Angela Parra, 9

I think what it means is that March starts cold and windy and then it starts to be warm. I know because my birthday is on March 31 and by then it starts to be warmer and feels like springtime.
