North Pole Express creates family traditions

Southern California families have rediscovered the magic and spirit of the season at the Fillmore & Western Railway aboard the North Pole Express.The special holiday train features a jolly Santa, playful elves leading Christmas carols and a storyteller reading a traditional Christmas story.Each passenger is served a Christmas cookie and chocolate milk.

The train trip departs from Fillmore's Central Park and is one hour long.The train journeys out into the countryside to the North Pole where it picks up the star of the season, Santa Claus.Once aboard, Santa makes his way through each rail car greeting children and parents during the journey back to town.The magic of the evening doesn't end there.

When the train arrives back in town, Central Park has been transformed into Santa's Village, with snow and glittering lights and many festivities.Santa Claus sits in his sleigh where children are welcome to talk with the jolly guy and hand him their personal "wish list". Additionally at Santa's Village are arts and craft vendors and a food booth. There is also a full-size carousel and a Tubs O' Fun ride for only $2.00.

Guests are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring a warm blanket and teddy bear along for the ride. The North Pole Express rides are every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings in December through Saturday the 23 rd.Departure times are at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. each evening. Ticket prices are $22.00 for adults and $12 for children 4-12 years of age.Lap children ages 2 and under are no charge.

Keeping with the Christmas theme there is also a special dinner train this year, Dinner With Santa.The trip departs from the Central Park station in Fillmore on Sunday nights in December at 5:30 p. m., returning at approximately 7:30 p.m.Passengers will be dine with Santa, sing Christmas Carols and there will be plenty of photo opportunities.Each adult guest will have their choice of a Turkey or Ham dinner, while children enjoy a chicken fingers meal.Adult ticket price is $44, youth 3-12 years old are $23.Children 2 years and younger are $7.00 for the ride only.

Fillmore & Western's original Christmas event train, The Christmas Tree Train, is back and running every Saturday and Sunday in December, with 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.n. departures each day.Many families have made this train part of their annual holiday tradition.Passengers ride the train to the Christmas tree farm to cut down their own tree.Staff nets and loads their tree aboard the flatcar for the journey back to Fillmore, while passengers visit with Santa.<

Trees and netting priced separately from the train ride. Adults are $21, while youth 4-12 years old are $11.Children 3 years old and under are $7.00. Create memories and family traditions aboard the Fillmore & Western Railway month-long series of Christmas Trains.
