Does Tai Chi actually work?

The questions of the medicinal effectiveness of the Chinese art of Tai Chi have been debated for years.

Can an art that has been employed for thousands of years still be effective? Can it increase your health awareness? Does it help your blood and body move and circulate more freely?

These and many questions will be answered by a leading authority on the Wellness aspect of Tai Chi at the Martial Arts History Museum this Sunday, Sept. 16.

Carrie Ogawa-Wong, a world renowned Tai Chi instructor and member of the Museum's Hall of Fame, will host an unusual seminar on the medical aspect of Tai Chi.

"Everyone has questions on this art. There's so much confusion and I'll tackle each question one by one," noted Ogawa-Wong.

Tai Chi, a Chinese art form, has been reported in many medical journals on the effectiveness of practicing this art.

"This is not your typical Tai Chi class, this class is designed to assist you in all your questions on Tai Chi. Wong will also show some movements, how to do chair Tai Chi and many uniques things you should know about the art," said Museum President Michael Matsuda.

The seminar will take place from 3-4:15 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16. Entrance into the museum is required. Admission is $6 adults, $3 for seniors and kids.

The museum is located at 24406 San Fernando Road, Santa Clarita.
