Blood drive set to honor theater musician
Contributed by: Carol Rock on 10/16/2007

The Canyon Theatre Guild is sponsoring a blood drive from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, to honor the late Brody Rennels, a drummer who had been featured in several productions and passed away in September.

The guild traditionally has a blood drive with Providence Holy Cross Blood Services tied in with its Halloween shows (which this year include "Dracula: The Case of the Silver Scream" and "Phantom of the Soap Opera") on the last Saturday in October.

Because Rennels required several blood donations during his treatment for leukemia, the theater decided to dedicate this year's drive to his memory in hopes that people will replenish blood bank supplies for anyone else in need.

A self-contained blood services truck will be located in the parking lot of the theater at 24242 San Fernando Road in Newhall.

All donors will receive a certificate for a pint of Baskin-Robbins ice cream.

Appointments, which are recommended, may be made by leaving a message at (661) 251-9457 or e-mailing rockmediascv@yahoo.com.

Walk-ups are also welcome.
