Interfaith Council to hold King observance Jan. 15

On Monday, January 15th the Santa Clarita Interfaith Council will sponsor the 14th Annual Observance honoring the birthday, the dream, and the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Joining as co-sponsor is the City of Santa Clarita's Human Relations Forum. The program will be held from 3- 5 p.m. at the Hart High School auditorium, located at 24825 N. Newhall Ave., Newhall.
The program theme, "Celebrating Diversity," will begin with a reception that will include a bread sampling from Sri Lanka, India, Kazakhstan, China, Israel, and tea being served by a Buddhist Monk. The inspirational program following the reception will include award winning guitarist
Eric Picotte Harper
and a special performance by the UCLA Bhangra dance team.
"This is a youth and family oriented program," said, planning committee member
Veeann Hegreberg
. "We are inviting guests to dress in traditional ethnic clothes to help create a joyous atmosphere!"
Faith communities belonging to the SCV Interfaith Council include: Bahai's of Santa Clarita, The Church of Hope (ELCA), Congregation Beth Shalom, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Friendly Valley United Methodist Church, Or Emet - A Jewish Congregation, Santa Clarita Valley Pagan Network, Santa Clarita United Methodist Church, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Methodists, Santa Clarita Church of Religious Science, Unitarian Universalists, and Valencia United Methodist Church.
Come and participate in the observance of Dr. King's birthday as we celebrate our similarities and differences as citizens of the Santa Clarita Valley.
