Church members give bear hugs to charity
Contributed by: Carol Rock/valleynews.com on 11/15/2006

The Santa Clarita Center for Spiritual Living has been overrun with bears - teddy bears, known there as "love bears."

As part of their "From the Heart" community outreach program, the Spiritual Center is taking in new teddy bears of all shapes and sizes. During each service, workshop and social event at their church, congregants are filling these bears with love by holding, cuddling and singing to them.

These "love bears" will be donated to local charities in December for children who need a little extra love this holiday season.

The Santa Clarita Center for Spiritual Living is a loving group of like-minded people. Based in the teachings of Ernest Holmes, they meet every Sunday at the Masonic Lodge in Friendly Valley to promote positive living, love and peace throughout the world.

The community is invited to join them for a guided meditation at 9:30 a.m. As well as service (with great music) every Sunday at 10 a.m. Children's church/child care is provided. Anyone interested in donating new bears should contact Ann Kortez at (661) 904-1322. More information is available at www.sccrs.org.
