More than 300 vegetarian animal lovers are expected to gather Saturday, Nov. 18 at Animal Acres, a 26-acre farm sanctuary, to celebrate Thanksgiving by feeding turkeys. The public is invited to participate.
The day will begin with farm tours, where guests can spend time with playful pigs, kissing cows and friendly sheep. After tours, everyone will gather for the official "Feeding the Turkeys" ceremony, where the turkeys will be treated to cranberry salad, pumpkin pie and stuffed squash.
This unique Thanksgiving event is part of a national "Save the Turkeys" Thanksgiving effort begun by Animal Acres President
Lorri Bauston, who opened the first farm animal sanctuary in 1986 and has been saving turkeys and educating people about the need to rescue and protect farm animals for more than 20 years.
