Santa Clarita singer/songwriter Trish Lester will entertain on Sunday, June 8, along with four other talented performers, at a private home in Newhall, as part of the third annual Santa Clarita Valley Memorial Garden Tour.

The home garden tour is organized each year by Christi Larsen as a tribute to our military serving abroad.

The tour will run from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., with live entertainment scheduled for 11a.m.-4 p.m.at one of the gardens on the tour.

Lester called the tour organizer when she read about Larsen, who had lost her son, U.S. Army Pfc. Cole Larsen, in the Iraq conflict.

"Trish told me she'd written a patriotic song, called 'Thank a Soldier,' and asked if I'd like to include live music as part of the tour," said Larsen. "I went to Trish's Web site, heard the song, and called her right back!"

Thanks to Lester's efforts, the special event now includes an entire day of live acoustic music.

Tour-goers and music lovers alike will be able to sit down and enjoy patriotic and family-friendly performances in the garden of Colleen and Clyde Shaffer, 24921Green Mill Ave., Newhall.

Performers include Lester, Melissa Kaye, Tom Renaud, Evonne Rivera and John Zipperer & Friends.

The self-guided Memorial Garden Tour and its musical component are free and open to the public.

Donations and raffles will support T*A*P*S (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) and The Wounded Warrior Project. Sponsorships are still available.
