SC STARS Capture Regional Sweepstakes Award

The Santa Clarita STARS Junior National Dance team participated in a regional dance competition on Saturday, May 5. This regional event was held at Valencia High School and had 7 teams from California, Oregon and Nevada participating.

The SC STARS had the highest scores total from their 32 routines in which they received the California Regional Sweepstakes Award. They also received 10 judges' awards for excellence in choreography, technique and overall entertainment value. The Santa Clarita STARS received over 100 trophies for solos, duets, individual team routines, entire team routine and their Best Show production number, titled "Fosse."

The team will be performing at the Valencia Dance Show on May 11 and 12, the Saugus Dance Show on May 18 and the Hart Dance Show on May 18 and 19. The team will travel to Salt Lake City, Utah on June 21, 22 and 23 for the National STARS Dance Competition.

The STARS dance team is directed by Holly and Kevin Diaz. The team trains at The Dance Experience in Canyon Country. The Dance Experience classes and the Santa Clarita STARS will hold their annual recital on June 2 at Hart High Theater.There will be two shows at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets go on sale May 12 and you can call the Dance Experience at 251-7460 for more information.
