Video Production Now Available to Hart High School
Contributed by: Ramon Hamilton on 7/30/2007

Thanks to the generous support of Facey Medical Group, the Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) Film Festival, will offer video production to Hart High School students at its Film Center this fall. Hart High School is one of the only high schools in the Santa Clarita Valley that does not have a video production program, but Facey and the SCV Film Festival want to change that.

"The physicians and staff at Facey Medical Group have a long-standing, positive relationship with the residents of Santa Clarita. We feel that it is important to not only foster good physical health, but strong mental health by nurturing creativity and imagination as well," said Daniel Lewis, M.D., Facey Medical Group's Santa Clarita Valley Regional Medical Director.

This initial, free pilot program will be open to selected Hart High School students. The program will be held three days a week for three hours after school at the SCV Film Center in Newhall.

"The program will give students an opportunity to express themselves, while also gaining important technical skills and insight regarding the entire filmmaking process and potential career opportunities in the industry," explains festival Executive Director and instructor Ramon Hamilton.

Students learn to work together, writing their own screenplay on Final Draft, a professional screenwriting software program, shooting, directing and acting in their film project(s), and editing the film with Final Cut Pro, a professional editing software. Students also learn about sound editing, music and sound effects as they refine and finalize their project(s).

"We would not be able to offer this free program to students without the support of Facey Medical Group," said Hamilton. "We are excited to be able to reach out to Hart High. We are looking forward to Hart High being part of the High School Film Competition of the SCV Film Festival this year."
