"What do I want to be when I grow up?"
The very youngest children want to follow their heroes as firemen, astronauts, movie stars, etc. But it's never too soon for a child to start discovering his or her individual interests and how they can lead to realistic successful careers in the future.
That's the concept behind Discovering Careers-2008, the Santa Clarita Valley's first hands-on career exploration program planned for 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 26, at College of the Canyons.
Sponsored by the Santa Clarita ValleySchool and Business Alliance, the Hart School District, local elementary school districts and College of the Canyons, the expo will feature interactive presentations and demonstrations by local businesses and service organizations.
Students from 5 to 20 years old will be encouraged to participate in hands-on activities that interest them, and explore the career fields that relate to those interests.
Discovering Careers-2008 will be fre for all participants.
