How many primary elections do we need?
Contributed by: Carolyn Whitehead   on 6/5/2008

The long, drawn-out primaries are finallyover! And not a day too soon. Seems like it's gone on forever.

And ... as usual ... Florida finds itself in the middle of voting controversy, along with Michigan.

I think there is a simple way to stop all this garbage. With all the political positioning and the one-upsmanship to be the first state to do this or vote for that, one can get very weary of the whole process.

Just like there is onegeneral election on a given date in November, the same should hold true for primary voting. Let's start a campaign to have exactlyone primary on a date to be decided by all.

That way, we wouldn't have to deal with states violating committee rules, wouldn't have one state competing against another for the first stab at candidate selection, etc.

One person, one vote, one primary. Period!
