Cruise for a cause - what does this mean?
Contributed by: Harvey Branman on 4/20/2007

Imagine yourself on the Carnival Fantasy ship. You may have been invited by a friend to come on this cruise, Sept.3rd thru the 8th, out of the beautiful city of New Orleans, going to the historic and beautiful ports of Cozumel and Costa Maya.

Now picture this as a fund-raising event for your favorite charity. You get to have fun while helping a nonprofit earn money to do more service for the community.

The Charity Services Program, thru our parent company, GTTrends, was founded a year ago, March 2006. This has made it possible for us as Certified Charity Consultants to approach any 501C nonprofit with an opportunity to have their own travel website. The supporters of a nonprofit can book travel thru their own branded site and earn 50 percent of the commissions sent to GTTrends for their nonprofit.

As my partner Hazel recalls, "This cruise was generated by a thought from Harvey, after a great weekend FAM trip put on by Carnival Cruise Lines in Long Beach, touring 2 of their ships". Harvey said, "Let's book a whole ship for the charities that have signed on with GTTrends".

What we found out is this - in order to reserve an entire ship - you need to put up a deposit of two million dollars. Microsoft or another mega business might be able to do that, but we had to get a little more realistic.

So, with the help of GTTrends Associate Travel Agents from other parts of the country, we decided to reserve 200 cabins and raise money for the many nonprofits that have signed up for their FREE travel websites with GTTrends. For each cabin we fill, $100 will be donated to the charity designated by the passengers in that cabin.

And, for each 10 cabins booked, Carnival gives us a free cabin, which in turn can be used as a raffle prize. If a charity or business offers a cabin on this cruise as a raffle prize, and sells 1000 tickets at $10 each, they could raise an additional $10,000. The cost of an ocean view cabin, including port fees, insurance and gratuities is just over $500 per person. This means a raffle of a cabin could net out $9000, give or take.

When we are marching on to the ship, with a full New Orleans Jazz band, and the mayor of New Orleans, singing "When GTTrends goes marching on" it will be all over the news - and next year - we may actually need the entire ship.

Come and join us on the Inaugural Cruise for a Cause. Call H and H Travel at 818-846-7351 and talk to Hazel or myself. We can still get you on board.
