DWP Wants More Money- No Fiduciary Responsibility
Contributed by: Leonard Horowitz on 6/6/2007

Once again DWP is asking for 6.2 percent more for water, 9 percent more for electricity, and getting 7 percent more for Bureau of Sanitation's sewer service charges. Headlines today prove that these city agencies current commissioners and board of directors are not doing their fiduciary responsibility in making sure DWP and Bureau of Sanitation funds go to the right sectors in keeping up to date our water, sewer system and electrical infrastructure. Both of these agencies are acting like dysfunctional families that do not even talk to one another. Adding insult to the rate payers increase our political leaders are acting like weaklings voting for these increases without a watch dog looking over the internal payouts within each agency. The ratepayers funds are being wasted. The employee unions are running the political show in L.A. because of their monetary support in candidates and member votes for mayor and councilmembers. DWP board President H.David Nahai is quoted today, "I think we have to face up to the investments that we must make. We have to have a very honest conversation with the people of Los Angeles that those investments don't happen for free," Your right about no free investments Mr. Nahai but the fact is we the ratepayers have been paying our share and you and your board have misused the funds. The money was there for utility upgrades but it was misused and spent on high salaries based on a bad union contract, overtime, and over paid sub contractors.

Angelenos it's time not to just get mad but get even. It does not do any good to complain and do nothing about it. There is something you can do. We all know about conservation of water and energy. If everyone flushes at the same time that's just an urban legend and would not be effective. If every ratepayer does not pay their DWP bill it wouldn't matter to DWP they would just shut off ourwater and electricity.I am talking about making your voice heard at City Hall neighborhood councils, city council, and commissioners of DWP and Bureau of Sanitation. Call, email, write and visit during public forums and let them know you are not happy about the rate increase and ask for a City Utility Czar be appointed so that ratepayers will know their money is used correctly. Let's bring on "Power to the People" or in this case, "Power to the Ratepayer".

For the past 5 years I have been doing my best to bring DWP ratepayers a large savings from their sewer service charges. I have an all inclusive service business called California Utility Services. We will make sure you benefit by having us get you and install a DWP Sub Water Meter. Stop your cash from going down the drain. No more ssc estimation but actual meter reading. CALL NOW
