Mayor Elect and Assistant City Manager Bob McFall putting their cooking skills to the test...
On Thursday, April 19, 2007, newly elected Glendale City Mayor
Ara Najarian
and family joined Assistant City Manager
Bob McFall
at PATH Achieve Glendale to prepare and serve a warm breakfast to 40 homeless families residing in the Glendale shelter. Breakfast included homemade waffles topped with fresh fruit, whip cream and McFall's favorite: peanut butter!
Assistant City Manager Bob McFall is a regular at the PATH facility, volunteering at least once a month to prepare breakfast and interact with homeless residents.
"It's very uncommon to have the commitment of public servants like Bob," says
Maggie Willis
, executive director of PATH Achieve. "We are thankful to have Bob's dedication and commitment to our organization."
Over 40 individuals and community groups volunteer each year to serve 14,600 meals at PATH Achieve Glendale. Served family style, meals in the shelter has been a great opportunity for volunteers to converse with residents to gain an understanding of homelessness and to hear their personal stories.
"Since 1984, PATH Partners and its family of agencies have been committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness by providing services and building housing for people in need. Now a regional organization with national influence, PATH Partners also helps communities integrate support services with permanent housing through capacity-building, creative partnerships and community mobilization."
