Prompted only by the willingness to improve their unit, the maternity center social committee, made up of nurses, at Glendale Adventist Medical Center decided that the unit needed a Bilibed to help treat babies born with dangerously high levels of bilirubin or jaundice.
The maternity staff didn't wait for good things to come their way - they made it happen! Through a campaign of posting fliers, soliciting doctors and encouraging hospital staff to join the cause, the maternity staff took less than a year to raise the $2,300 necessary to purchase the Bilibed.
"We all greatly appreciate the generous contributions that made this dream a reality," said
Nalda Lazo, RN, during a recent dedication ceremony for the brand new Bilibed in the maternity center.
