The Healthcare Foundation at Glendale Adventist Medical Center is pleased to announce that it has received a $400,000 grant from the Weingart Foundation.

This grant is the final piece of the hospital's $10 million West Tower Capital Campaign.

"Even though we knew it was coming, we just can't thank the Weingart Foundation enough for their generosity," said David Burghart, president of the Healthcare Foundation.

The $10 million campaign started in April 2004 and ended December 2007 when the last pledge came in.

The West Tower is a 190,000-square-foot, seven-story building featuring a new emergency department and state-of the-art technology, 60 new patient beds, larger patient rooms and a family-centered intensive care unit.

The Healthcare Foundation supports the work and mission of Glendale Adventist Medical Center through philanthropy.

"It has been a rewarding experience to raise funds for such a needed additon to Glendale Adventist Medical Center," said Burghart. "The Weingart Foundation contributed to its final success ."

Weingart Foundation considers grants to assist organizations in program areas of health, human services and education. The foundation gives highest priority to activities that provide greater access to services for people who are economically disadvantaged and underserved.

Of particular interest to the foundation are applications that specifically address the needs of low-income children and youth, older adults and people affected by disabilities and homelessness.

The foundation also funds activities that benefit the general community and improve the quality of life for all individuals in Southern California.
