For the first time, the Glendale Community College's archives will be participating in L.A. As Subject's third annual Archives Bazaar, Archives Live from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the USC Davidson Conference Center.
GCC will have some of its rare artifacts on display, as will 64 other institutions
participating in this year's event. Utilizing the entire conference center, there will be presentations, book signings and opportunities to talk with experts on regional history, genealogy, research tools and preservation.
October is Archives Month and the California Legislature has passed ACR 154, a resolution that states "archival institutions strengthen and enrich the lives of people by inspiring curiosity, exploration, critical thinking and dialogue to advance knowledge, understanding and an appreciation of history."
Gov. Schwarzenegger encourages all Californians, "to take advantage of our state's archival institutions that provide insight into our state's remarkable heritage."
The USC Davidson Conference Center is located on the corner of Figueroa and Jefferson, across from the Shrine Auditorium on the north and the Galen Center on the east.
Parking will be $8 in Structure D by the Gate 4 entrance.
Admission to Archives Live is free and attendees will receive discount coupons for the museums of Exposition Park including the Natural History Museum, California African American Museum and the California Science Center.
