East or west, my dad is the best!
Contributed by: Kids Letters on 6/9/2008

TODAY'S TOPIC: Father's Day is June 15. We asked which man in your life do you admire and why?

The thing I admire about my dad is that he likes to take time to hang out with me. Also because he gives me the things that I want but sometimes he likes to make me earn it, which makes me a better person.
Micaela Gimenez, 10
Lemay Elementary
Van Nuys

What I most admire about my dad is that he is always taking care of me. He also has time for me even if he has work. He is also a very nice person. The last thing that makes my dad special is that he is not afraid to say the truth.
Gaspar Ortega, 11
Oxnard Street Elementary
North Hollywood

Oh Dad, I most admire when we walk around our spacious neighborhood for an interesting thirty minutes. When we walk and talk and play around, it shows what childhood is really about. Watching soccer games is a thrill and makes me tremble. When someone on our team scores, we jump and dance to the victory. That's what I truly admire about my one of a kind dad.
Magali Pires, 9
Township Elementary
Simi Valley

I appreciate my dad because he takes good care of me and he tells me right and wrong. He also helps me with my homework and he practices the multiplication problems with me. My dad is very special to me because I think he is a great person and he always fixes his mistakes.
Ashley Pacias, 9
Fernangeles Elementary
Sun Valley

I really admire my dad because my dad has helped me in school and my homework. He has raised me since I was baby. My dad has looked after me and he has also helped me out with my problems. My dad has taught me a lot of manners so that I can be a nice person when I grow up.
Christian Espino, 11
Oxnard Street Elementary
North Hollywood

I admire my dad because he is hard working and willing to do anything for me and my brothers and sisters. He's really the life of the party but he can't tell good jokes. He is special to me because he's my dad and he created me. I love him.
Melissa Saavedra, 10
Lemay Elementary
Van Nuys

I admire a lot of things about my dad but here are some of them. He's funny because he thinks he's funny. Also, he's nice because whenever I'm sad, he always cheers me up. He's weird because whenever the phone rings, he pretends to be a girl. That is mostly everything I like about my dad.
Allie Bobbitt, 9
Wilbur Elementary
Tarzana

I admire my daddy because he helps me with my homework. The parts I don't understand are the parts he explains in an easy way. He tucks me in bed and kisses me goodnight. He cares for our family. He always says: Don't fight, make it right.
Aiyah Obeid, 8
Sacred Heart School
Lancaster

The most thing I admire about my dad is that he always is building and fixing stuff. Last week, he started remodeling our kitchen. We are even going to have granite! My dad is wonderful at softball, football and even basketball. He does a lot of stuff for me! He's always trying to do the right thing! And that's why I love my dad!
Sloan Kalavesis, 9
Township Elementary

I admire my dad because he treats me nice and he buys the thing I want sometimes. My dad is proud of me because I want to be a policeman. He loves me and I love him.
Jonathan Veliz, 10
Lemay Elementary
Van Nuys

The man I admire the most is my father. I admire him because he is like my hero. My dad is a real fun person. He is a hard worker. I want to be just like him when I grow up. I wish he will have a relaxing Father's Day this year. I will try not to mess up that day.
Adrian Lopez, 11
Oxnard Street Elementary
North Hollywood

My dad is special because he raised me to be a responsible person. I admire him because he is very generous. He is always helping me with stuff that I don't understand. He makes me feel like I am a very important person. I always feel safe around him. When I have a problem, he can always help me. I also admire him because he works so hard to give us what we want. That's why I admire him so much.
Lucy Cortez, 12
Oxnard Street Elementary
North Hollywood

There are so many great things I love and admire about my dad. First of all, he's my dad and he keeps me fed, breathing, hydrated and alive. But other important things are he encourages me, helps me and keeps me motivated. Plus, he's generous and the best and only dad for me!
Tejas Sriram, 10

I most admire my grandfather because he plays with me. I also admire him because he gives me presents and candy. On Father's Day, I will give him a gift for all the nice things he has done for me.
Victor Paz, 10

My daddy is special because he is a great cook and he can fix anything! His favorite food is a mango. He is my favorite person to go to.

I really appreciate my father. He always plays with me. Also, he is like my friend. I could tell him all my secrets. Every time I go with him to visit, we always go out, like, bowling.

I love my dad. I admire everything about my dad but if I had to pick, I'd pick his spirit. He's always happy and never lets me down. Again, I think everything's special about him. He's a very special dad because he takes care of me and always takes me out to places.
Kelly Higgins, 10

It's almost Father's Day and so here's why I admire my father. My father sometimes makes pancakes and some yummy kinds of sandwiches for us. My dad is very, very strong. There was a time when he moved our new, cast iron bathtub. Boy, did it look heavy! He's very funny and has a great sense of humor. I love my dad and I hope he has a wonderful Father's Day!
Karen Macias, 9

The very best thing about my dad is that he plays games with me, makes dinner for me and spends lots of time with me.
