Contributed by: Bernie Roswig on 12/21/2006

Optimist Youth Homes and Family Services, a leading education and treatment center for at-risk youth, rang in the 2006 holiday season with two festive events in December, highlighted by its 54th annual Festival of Trees in Burbank and the 8th annual holiday tree lighting ceremony at its Highland Park main campus.

Newsman Rick Chambers hosted the Festival of Trees which attracted more than 600 people to the Burbank Hilton Hotel and raised about $25,000 to support the Optimist's program to treat and educate at-risk youth throughout the Los Angeles area.

Founded in 1906, and in its centennial year, Optimist Youth Homes & Family Services annually cares for thousands of abused, troubled and neglected youth and juvenile offenders on probation and their families throughout California and is one of the largest such private centers in the region.

Accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services, Optimist Youth Homes & Family Services also operates six group homes, a private high school, a foster care and adoption agency and multifaceted programs for community youth and their parents.
