Lecture on urinary incontinence for women

Simi Valley Hospital and the Simi Valley Senior Center will offer a series of community lectures in the next few months with a focus on senior health.

The next lecture will be on "Urinary Incontinence and What You Can Do About It." It's scheduled for Monday, Nov. 5, from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Education Conference Room at the Simi Valley Senior Center, located at 3900 Avenida Simi, Simi Valley.

This lecture is for women only.

Dr. Lawrence Lin, a medical expert on staff at Simi Valley Hospital, will discuss urinary incontinence with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment options for women.

A question-and-answer session will follow Dr. Lin's lecture.

Common symptoms of urinary incontinence are inability to urinate, pain related to filling the bladder and/or pain related to urination without a proven bladder infection, progressive weakness of the urinary stream with or without a feeling of incomplete bladder emptying.

Another symptom ishaving to run to the restroom and losing urine if you do not make it in time.
