Children practice a healthy lifestyle at L.A. Fair
Contributed by: gabrielle sopko on 9/28/2007

Children will get moving on September 29th and 30th when the "Blue Cross Live Like a Champion Tour" visits the Los Angeles County Fair in Pomona.

Blue Cross of California, collaborating with the California Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, is stopping at the Los Angeles County Fair with this 14-week statewide mobile outreach campaign designed to get children moving and empower them to make healthy lifestyle choices now and in the future.

The "Blue Cross Live Like a Champion Tour," featuring a customized SUV, includes interactive games and challenging sports themed activities to help children bring out their "inner champion." Activities include Jerry Rice's Catch Like a Champion, Julie Foudy's Kick Like a Champion and Misty May Treanor's Spike Like a Champion.

Approximately one in three children in California are obese or overweight and almost 40 percent of school-aged children are physically unfit, which is why programs like "Live Like a Champion" are so important.

The tour will visit the Los Angeles County Fair from 10AM-7PM.
