The Church of Scientology Women's Auxiliary recently made life a little cozier for the residents of PATH Achieve Glendale who are trying to get back on their feet.
The auxiliary delivered 35 blankets and 48 towel sets to
Nancy Freidson, transitional husing program manager at PATH Achieve Glendale. The new blankets and towels, donated by auxiliary members, will be distributed among current PATH residents when they leave the facility to set up their own homes.
PATH, which stands for People Assisting the Homeless, was founded in 1984 and is a community organization whose mission is to help homeless men and women become self-sufficient by empowering them with the tools to do so-such as transitional housing, education and job training and placement.
PATH Achieve Glendale started 10 years ago as Project ACHIEVE, and changed its name in 2006 after joining the PATH Partners family of agencies.
"We applaud PATH's goal of helping people, which aligns with ours - to help able people become able to help themselves and others," said auxiliary member and project chairwoman
Kerrie Washburn of Altadena. "PATH is giving people back their self-respect, and we are proud to help in any way we can."
The Church of Scientology is a well-known leader in social reform activities, including drug education, drug- and criminal-rehabilitation programs, literacy awareness and human rights issues.
