Contributed by: Wendy Grove on 4/11/2008

Debbie Frohmuth, senior early childhood educator at the Glendale Community College Child Development Laboratory School, has been selected for the first-ever Los Angeles County Preschool Teacher of the Year Award, given to outstanding preschool educators countywide who exemplify excellence.

The award was given to only five teachers in Los Angeles County, one from each
supervisory district. The award will be presented at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Tuesday, April 15, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors as part of "The Week of the Young Child."

This award is intended to encourage and celebrate exceptional early childhood teachers for their hard work, commitment and dedication.

Gary Mangiofico, CEO of Los Angeles Universal Preschool (LAUP) said, "A quality preschool education can put a child on the path to success. This award is an important step in recognizing those model educators who are molding the next generation of productive citizens."

Frohmuth has been teaching at the laboratory school since its inception in September 1990. She currently teaches in the Five-Star Los Angeles Universal Preschool, 4-year-old Dragon classroom.

She has demonstrated a strong commitment to quality preschool education and is dedicated to making a positive contribution to the children and families she serves, using creative instructional strategies as well as contributing to the well-being of each individual child, the lab school and the community.
