Women in Irish mythology to be discussed at GCC

"Celtic Holy Women, Mythological and Historical: An Exploration of the Role of the Feminine in Irish Mythology" will be presented at Glendale Community College on Monday, March 31, at noon in room 243 of the Santa Barbara Building as part of the Humanities/Social Science Lecture Series.

The speakers will be Dennis Doyle, professor of English, reading and humanities at GCC, and Padraigin Clancy, an Irish folklore expert.

In addition to teaching, Doyle is a Celtic harpist, singer and storyteller with several recordings. He has presented programs with Clancy since 2002.

Clancy is a native of Dublin, Ireland. She has completed postgraduate study in Irish folklore at the University College in Dublin and lectures extensively throughout Ireland, Scotland, Australia and the US. She appears frequently on Irish national radio and TV and is the editor of "Celtic Threads: Exploring the Wisdom of Our Heritage."

Admission is free and open to the public.
