New director of information systems named at VHH

Jim Sevilla recently joined Verdugo Hills Hospital (VHH) as director of information systems.

Sevilla brings more than 30 years of Information Technology (IT) experience, including more than 12 years of IT management and implementation in healthcare environments.

Sevilla has also several years of senior IT executive management experience, with extensive experience in leadership and implementation of strategic business planning efforts for technology and business process solutions.

He also has a background in facilities management and clinical systems management.

In his new role at VHH, Sevilla will oversee the information systems department and the hospital's communications system.

He said he also looks forward to implementing the new electronic medical record system at VHH and developing an IT strategic plan for the organization.

Prior to joining VHH, Sevilla served as executive IT director for Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) Government Solutions in Lakewood, Calif. He has also served as assistant executive IT director and director of data center operations for MemorialCare, a six-hospital organization (he was based at Long Beach Memorial), where he implemented several clinical systems - such as the General Electric radiology system and the Cerner radiology and pathology systems.

"My passion is information systems," Sevilla said. "I am very pleased to be back in a healthcare organization and working at prestigious Verdugo Hills Hospital."

A native of Los Angeles, Sevilla holds an associate degree from Los Angeles Pierce College and has a certificate of completion from Control Data Institute in programming technology and operations.

Sevilla is a member of Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
