It was an evening of many thanks, recognition and celebration as board members and friends of Verdugo Hills Hospital (VHH) and the Foundation (VHHF) gathered to learn more about VHH's core service areas during its annual donor reception, which also kicked off the VHHF 2008 annual Community Giving Campaign, called "Value Your Community - Value Your Hospital."
Foundation Board Chair
Rich Harris
opened the evening program by thanking all attendees for their support of the hospital. "With your help in 2007, we were able to raise $1.2 million," he said. "Tonight we are here to celebrate your success and the impact it makes on our community, to highlight the core services VHH offers just five minutes from our homes, and to launch our annual giving campaign."
VHH President and CEO
Len LaBella
also expressed his appreciation for everyone's generosity and support.
"Thank you to Rich for his leadership and the foundation board for their support of VHH and to all of you for your commitment to the hospital. At VHH, we are pleased to provide services that span the life time of our neighbors," LaBella said. "Our goal is to offer excellent quality of care with a focus on customer service and personalized care. Our commitment is to continue to seek ways to meet the needs of our patients and their families."
Foundation board and community member
Mindy Stein
, who chairs the 2008 Annual Community Giving Campaign with her husband,
Gene
, said, "We have to take pride in and protect our resources. Verdugo Hills Hospital is really a vital community resource and it is our responsibility to take care of it. I am pleased to report tonight that we have 100 percent support of the campaign from our board members. We are asking you and other community members to join us in supporting the hospital and the Campaign as well."
Margaret Anne Kean
, foundation president, thanked all who support the hospital, those able to attend the reception and those who could not. "Thanks to all of you for supporting VHH over the years. Your support has truly impacted the lives of hundreds of patients."
As guests enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and refreshments among the company of friends, they had an opportunity to learn more about VHH's obstetrical, emergency, diagnostic and surgical services, as well as about its physical medicine and rehabilitation program.
From A Balanced Life program and Fast-Track Emergency care to BEGINNINGS Family Birth Center and advances in digital mammography and surgical procedures, all present appreciated the educational information provided by VHH's clinical experts.
A behind-the-scenes tour of all the core service areas was also available after the speaking program for those interested in learning and seeing more about the services.
