Community expo plays it safe
Contributed by: Celine Petrossian on 4/14/2008

From Jaws of Life demonstrations and fire extinguisher training to Quaky-Shaky rides and 'Smokey Bear' encounters, families had a good time in the sun at the second annual "Play It Safe" Community Emergency Expo held Saturday, April 12, in Verdugo Hills Hospital's (VHH) lower parking lot.

Community members had an opportunity to meet two of VHH's very own emergency room physicians, Drs. Armand Dorian and David Tashman, and get their ER questions answered.

Visitors also stopped to talk to paramedics from Bowers Ambulance Service, learned about heart defibrillators and watched search-and-rescue dogs in action.

Event sponsors included Assembly member Anthony Portantino, city of La Canada, Earthquake Solutions, Emergency Medical Services Agency of Los Angeles County, Event Power Associates, Fire Safe Council, La Canada-Flintridge Chamber of Commerce, La Canada Kiwanis, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Station, Montrose Search and Rescue, Public Safety Commission, Southern California Edison, US Forest Service and Verdugo Hills Hospital.
