On Saturday, more than 70 skaters and more than 100 people attended the Burbank Skatepark's "Go Skate Day" event, which was held at the Burbank Valley Skatepark.
Considering the heat and high temperature, we had an awesome crowd. The event was held to commemorate National Go Skate Day, basically a skateboard awareness day to celebrate the joy and good times that skating brings to people of all ages.
The Burbank celebration started off in high gear as DJ'S
Marie
and
Joe Halbert
from 1st dance mobile DJ services provided the perfect music for the skaters while also taking requests.
Two local Burbank Domino's Pizza stores were kind enough to deliver tons of free pizza to everyone in attendance.
The event, which was sponsored by the City of Burbank Park, Recreation and Community Services Department, allowed everyone to skate for free and each skater was given a free raffle ticket and was eligible for the hourly prize raffle, prizes included AMC movie gift cards, McDonalds gift cards, wallets, hats, Waterboards, Annual Burbank Skatepark yearly pass, mini skateboard keychains, all donated by the Burbank Recreation Department.
Special thanks also goes to Boarders skate shop in the Glendale Galleria for donating posters, sets of wheels, DVDs and two skate decks.
Also thanks goes out to Moonlight Rollerway, based out of Glendale, for donating free rollerskating passes. The highlight of the day was the best trick contest with the winner - 11-year-old Burbank resident
Alex Liebendorfer
- taking home the grand prize, a Boarders donated brand new skate deck.
It was a great day of skating and fun. For more information about Burbank Skatepark hours and events, please call 818-238-5390.

Looks like a good and positive place...We need more places where our children can enjoy themselves in a safe and positive environment. Great Pictures!
