The 5 year Aniversary event held at the Burbank Skate Park this past weekend was a great success. Over 500 Skaters of all ages and from all over showed up to take advantage of the free Skate weekend and to help The Burbank Skate Park celebrate 5 years of service to Burbank and the surrounding communities. A great time was had by all. With the weather being perfect all three days, the three day event not only brought out tons of Skaters but also brought out people from the surrounding neighborhoods to enjoy the festivities and spend some quality time in the Park. On Friday night around 125 Skaters enjoyed the beautiful Spring like weather and the BBQ, while the kids enjoyed competing in a Skate contest. On Saturday the Burbank Park, Recreation and Community Services Department sponsored a beginning Skate Clinic for youth. Music was provided Saturday and Sunday by JB Mobile DJ Services. On Sunday the event culminated with a great turnout of around 200 Skaters and was highlighted with an appearance by the Active Ride Shop of Burbank's Skate Team, They were great with the kids, giving away Stickers, and T- Shirts, interacting with the Skaters and doing a Demo and conducting a Best Trick contest with the winner receiving an Active Skate board. Also given away throughout the weekend were Skateboard Keychains and Gift cards purchased and donated by the City of Burbank Park, Recreation and Community Services Department. Also donating a raffle prize was Burbank Family Martial Arts. And donating And last but not least a special thankyou to Dominoes Pizza of Burbank for donating Pizza , Frisbees, and Painters hats on Saturday and Sunday. Everyone appreciated the free hot Pizza. The event was a great success and the City hopes to do some similar events such as this in the future. For more information on the Burbank Valley Skate Park. Please call 818 238-5390.
