Time Warner Cable talk show highlights female two-time Golden Gloves Champion
'Disaster Diva' credits Simi Valley boxing gym, athletic sponsor USANA for 50-pound weight loss, empowerment
Time Warner Cable talk show host Liliana Montenegro will feature 36-year-old boxer Alicia Doyle of Sherman Oaks on Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. through September 2 on Time Warner public access channel 34.
Doyle, a two-time Golden Gloves Champion and the 1999 Southern California District Champion, is the most recent profile of Kid Gloves Community Outreach Boxing, a half-hour talk show produced and hosted by Montenegro. The segment is part of an on-going series named after Kid Gloves Boxing, a Simi Valley gym that specializes in Mixed Martial Arts, self-defense, grappling, kickboxing, boxing, aerobic boxing and personal training.
Founded by Robert Ortiz of Simi Valley, Kid Gloves is the training ground for Doyle, who was among less than 500 women in America competing at a professional level when she turned pro in 2000. A personal trainer and nutritional consultant, Doyle credits Kid Gloves and her athletic sponsor, USANA Health Sciences, for her physical transformation that involved a 50-pound weight loss.
"I wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for fitness through boxing and USANA Health Sciences," said Doyle, also known as
Disaster Diva in the ring. Doyle is also an independent distributor of USANA, maker of the #1 supplement in North America. "At 36, I feel stronger, healthier and more empowered than I've ever felt in my life. Now, I want to help others, especially women and young girls, take control of their lives and be the best they can be."
