I would like to know why so much of Buena Vista Street has been blocked off for many days and weeks before any work is being done. All the flashing signs and barricades slow up and congest the traffic for no good reason.
I called City Hall to ask about this and was passed around all over the place. I was finally connected to someone in the Public Works Department and this woman started talking to me like I am a complete idiot, all sarcastic and explaining the important work that's going on.
Then she explained that I should just detour around by using Orange Grove or Angeleno avenues. It took me amoment to figure out that this woman who talked to me as if I was a moron was talking about construction work downtown.
She was explaining why the road is blocked off on Olive Street. When I pointed this out to her she said, "then I guess I can't help you." Then she hung up on me.
I guess the street crews are just picking up the same attitude and competency they see coming from the staff in City Hall. Of course there's nothing to do about it because their bosses in the executive offices think it's everybodys job to cover for one another and explain why the public is so wrong about everything.
