Jack O'Neill is the recipient of the 2008 Woodbury University Movers & Shapers Award, which recognizes those who have demonstrated leadership and have made significant contributions to the Burbank community.
During his more than 30 years of involvement in Burbank civic and business life, O'Neill has been instrumental in bettering the city.
O'Neill will be honored Tuesday, Oct. 14, during an award luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Woodbury University, 7500 Glenoaks Blvd., Burbank.

O'Neill has served on the boards of the Burbank Chamber of Commerce, Burbank Media District Transportation Management Organization, and Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center Foundation. He has served on the advisory council for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Burbank Unified School District Partnership Advisory Board as well as various City of Burbank citizen advisory committees.
He has also been actively involved in community work with the Burbank School District programs, Burbank Temporary Aid Center, Burbank Boys & Girls Club, Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Leukemia Society of America, Olive Crest Home for Abused Children, Hillsides Home for Children, and Chrysalis.
A lawyer, O'Neill spent 39 years with NBC before retiring in 2005 and joining the Bob Hope Family Estate and Legacy as chief operating officer.
In addition to managing the Hope Estate, the Hope properties throughout Southern California, and working for Mrs. Hope, the Hope Legacy is dedicated to memorializing Bob Hope throughout the world for his work with and contributions to the military, entertainment, golf, and humanitarian causes.
O'Neill's experience with NBC included positions as vice president in finance, as well as vice presidential positions for compliance and practices (law); finance, operations, and technical services; real estate; operations and technical services; facilities and corporate sourcing; and facilities planning.
O'Neill has been honored by Woodbury in the past, delivering the commencement address to graduates in 1996.
His many awards include the Beautiful People Award for community service, Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center's Candle Light Award, Olive Crest Leadership Award for outstanding service to children, Burbank Boys & Girls Club's Golden Achievement Award, General Electric's Gerald L. Phillipe Award for distinguished leadership in community events, and General Electric Elfun Society, Southern California Chapter's special award for community service efforts.
