ME 25% HOUSE Workshop
Contributed by: Marina Garcia on 4/14/2008

MAY 19TH AT 7 PM SANTA MONICA LIBRARY, SANTA MONICA

In December the California Energy Commission (CEC) adopted guidelines that require all new homes to be net zero energy by 2020. Residential mortgage brokers Modern Earth Finance recognizes that this is important information that's been overlooked by homeowners.

Over the past few years Modern Earth, has expanded its traditional mortgage practice to specialize in promoting energy efficient, high performance (green) homes. Principals Joel Baral and Jeff Bricmont have become accredited in green building practices as well as finance.

"Homeowners can make their homes more comfortable and protect their long term value with energy efficient improvements. This saves money for the homeowner and reduces the impact on our bigger home, the earth," says Joel Baral, LEED AP.

The CEC guidelines mean that existing homes will compete against new homes that draw no power from the grid. Advanced energy efficient building and renewable energy sources will combine to eliminate their public energy needs. Less efficient homes risk a measurable decrease in value, especially as fossil fuel costs soar.

Modern Earth Finance designed its ME 25% Workshop to give homeowners concrete steps to take to make their homes more energy efficient and introduce finance programs designed to help fund these improvements.

Modern Earth sees the workshop as part of its community outreach to educate homeowners about protecting the value of their homes and helping keep our planet healthy at the same time.
