On April 18, the Burbank Community YMCA held its annual installation luncheon.
During the event,
Roger Koll
was presented with the Frank Sakata Volunteer of the Year Award.
Interim CEO
Theresa Zapata
remarked that "this award is our way to honor a volunteer who demonstrates our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through his/her volunteerism for the Burbank Community YMCA."
Koll is currently on the Burbank Community YMCA Board of Directors, and a member of the YMCA Service Club (Y's Men). The organization provides financial support to YMCA programs and its active volunteers are dedicated to supporting YMCA goals and purposes.
Koll also chairs the program committee, which focuses on ensuring current YMCA programs meet the needs of the membership as well as developing new programs.
During this past year, Koll has been very active in the annual Christmas tree lot and the Y's Healthy Kids Day event. He was also a key voice in galvanizing financial support for the Y's Youth and Government program.
His daughter is a recent graduate of this mock legislation and leadership program and Koll saw first hand the value of the program.
Zapata said "Of all the many wonderful aspects of Roger's sense of philanthropy, including his tirelessness and commitment to our Y, what is truly inspiring is how Roger has instilled his sense of volunteerism to his children. His son and daughter have followed in his footsteps and not only support the Y, but many other groups. We are so honored to a have a gentleman of his character and dedication on our YMCA team. "
